Okay just reviewed my post and realized the audio clip from Goodriche's lecture didn't come through. I don't have time now but I will try to fix this tomorrow. Until then sorry if this post seems a little confusing.

Katie, thanks for this personal reflection on our class conversation. It really provides a nice counter to those who see the military as the place for those who have no other options, instead of a meaningful and rewarding profession.

I would like to see you keep going, though. Reflect on these feelings of and revenge in light of the larger conversations we have been having in class with regard to how the US prosecuted the War on Terror after 9/11.

Also, proof read your posts. You have some careless typos and misspellings. The blog post tool bar has a spellchecker.

I just ordered his book and it arrived last week :) It's my Thanksgiving reading for this year. You said to be brave, so I was!

Caroline, this is a very observant and insightful post. I really liked how your realizations became our realizations. You told us a story about how your mind was changed by the film.

Again, solid post, but not as thorough as your previous one. Be more specific when referencing Sageman's argument and how it applies to England's actions.

I also wanted to hear more about how Sageman might be used as a frame for reading/interpreting the Abu Ghraib scandal and the documentary. This would make for a fascinating essay.

Alas, you're still having some problems with typos and misspellings. Please, please proofread and use spellcheck!

Annabel, I really like the way you use the allusion to Heracles to grab our attention, and then weave it into and out of the Dershowitz and Sontag readings. Keep this level of engagement with specific moments/arguments in the readings up throughout your blog posts and your other assignments and you will do well in this class and beyond.

The downside is that you have several careless typos and misspellings. Please use the spellcheck in the blog post window; that will go a long way to eliminating these mistakes.

I have been having a lot of problems making links and the link for “legal or illegal combatants” was a mistake I did not mean for it to be there. Also, I fixed the word "humanely" it was just a spelling mistake. Thanks!

Arielle, you write: "Everyone has a sense of right and wrong." If this is true, then how did the Abu Ghraib abuse scandal happen? Why didn't the soldiers involved assert that what they observed and/or what they were being asked to do was wrong?
